I had been working at home for about 8 years, and really enjoyed it. I’ve heard a lot of people say that they could never do that because they really do not like to be alone when they work. But I’ve found that most home workers are not alone because we meet online. When the owner of a particular work forum that I visit every day mentioned that they were going to go another direction and wanted to give up the forum, I offered to take it over. I immediately began looking into getting a cheap windows VPS to house everything. I thought that would be easier than dealing with one in my apartment.
The forum that I took over is one that I hung around on for many years. I have really gotten to know many of the members very well and have become friends with them. When the owner first said that they wanted to give it up, a lot of the members began panicking. We all need the ability to be in contact with one another in order to do our worker better. Often, we have questions that need to be answered or work output can be slowed greatly. Most people said that they didn’t have time to run the place and not enough technical knowledge to do it themselves. I am somewhat technically savvy, so I figured i would go for it.
It was really nice to be able to get the new forum settled in on the VPS that I’m paying for now. Members have told me that they will donate monthly to pay the bill. I went with a company that offers really good service, and my bill is pretty low. I signed a two year contract, so we will be locked into that price for awhile.
